About me...

Hello and welcome to my gallery. I live and work in the Scottish Highlands in a small town on the East coast and studied Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1992.

Surrounded by such wonderful scenery you would be forgiven for assuming that all artists who live here paint landscape. Not so. Whilst I am certainly inspired by my environment, to me this includes the people, the town houses, shops and parks and the day to day living experiences which create the character and identity of 'place'. Every place is different. You can feel it if you go just a few miles west or east or north.

The energy of a place can come from the natural elements; the wind, a stormy sea, a mist covered mountain. It can equally come from the characters, the businesses and the celebrations. No life is untouched by 'life'. We live and work with people, all sorts of people with their funny ways ie. not our ways - and this to me is worth painting. It makes me smile. I love being alone, in fact I'm often heard lamenting that 'I want to be alone', but only because I'm safe in the knowledge that I'm not actually Alone
